- Inscriptions: Obverse: REPÚBLICA DE GUATEMALA surrounding a seated female figure with a laurel branch in her left hand and the date 30 DE JUNIO DE 1871 engraved on a pedestal beside. At the bottom, the nominal value 1 REAL. Reverse: The national shield with the legend LIBERTAD 15 DE SEPTIEMBRE 1821 at the center, flanked by rifles and laurels, and a quetzal perched atop the scroll. At the bottom, the inscriptions 0.500 1899.
