AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Exceptionally signed copy on the title page by Fulvio Roiter (1926 - 2016), currently unobtainable on the Internet in a signed copy. 80 pages and about 50 color photographs, almost all full-page, texts in Italian and English by Cesare Zappulli. Publisher's hardcover binding illustrated on the cover and a case identical to the binding. In excellent condition, practically like new.

"The gestures of individuals synchronize with the indications of the electronic display and the phone is always there, as if to remind us that beyond this stock exchange enclosure where these operators bustle, there are other wills guiding the action… Fulvio Roiter has managed to capture the methodical effervescence of the Stock Exchange with remarkable precision: you could almost hear the cries. But after immortalizing it in images, he feels the need to detach himself from it, to recall, and to remind us, always through the lens, that outside lies the city of Milan, with the Piazza degli Affari, the Galleria, the swirls of the Duomo, lovers in embrace, pedestrians seated at café terraces. And the tension of the Stock Exchange eases and blends into the city’s daily life." (according to Cesare Zappulli)

Fulvio Roiter was born and spent his entire youth 35 kilometers from Venice. Very quickly passionate about photography, he was part of the amateur photographers’ group La Gondola with Paolo Monti, Gianni Berengo Gardin, Giuseppe Bruno and a few others. His prestigious books on Venice and the one on Umbria by Saint Francis of Assisi, both published by La Guilde du Livre in Lausanne, enjoyed extraordinary success in Europe, and Fulvio Roiter undertook numerous trips that produced many books.

The photographic work of Fulvio Roiter makes him one of the most important Italian photographers of the twentieth century. As early as 1959, the illustrious photography critic and historian, Giuseppe Turroni, described him as a “prodigy” of Italian photography. In 1982 Fulvio Roiter was selected to publish a volume in the collection Grands Photographes directed by Roméo Martinez, who was editor-in-chief of the Swiss photography magazine Camera. In 2009, an exhibition and a book-catalogue "Dieci fotografi d’oro" (10 golden photographers) highlighted him alongside other sometimes very different Italian photographers such as Gabriele Basilico, Giovanni Berengo Gardin, Mario Cresci, Mimmo Jodice, Franco Fontana, Guido Guidi and a few others.

The American photography historian Naomi Rosenblum, in one of her texts on Fulvio Roiter, emphasizes the harmonious synthesis of aesthetic principles and humanist values that Roiter achieves in his work.

Book from my personal collection, in excellent condition, like new; kept with the greatest care. Very effectively protected shipping and guaranteed international trackable postal service. In case of multiple purchases, possibility of consolidated shipping with reimbursement of any excess postal fees via Paypal.
