Rover Mini Cabriolet Palmerspeed Special, 1995.
Description from the seller
GENERAL INFORMATION
This 1995 Mini Rover Cabriolet Palmerspeed Special is a true factory-origin open-top version, produced by Rover in the mid-1990s. These official Mini Cabriolets are among the rarest variants of the classic Mini, as they were offered at a relatively high price at the time, which limited their distribution. The specimen presented was first registered on June 21, 1995 and has a total of 72,800 kilometers. The registration document officially notes the designation “CABR,” confirming that it is indeed an original cabriolet and not a later conversion.
This already rare base was subsequently transformed by Palmerspeed Racing, an Italian workshop led by Palmer Caputo and specialized in British sports cars. This handcrafted preparation is documented by an original article published in the Italian magazine Elaborare, which strengthens the vehicle’s historical interest.
BODYWORK AND PAINT
The car is shown in the classic British Racing Green metallic shade, an iconic color for British sports cars. It is fitted with a cherry red fabric soft top that elegantly contrasts with the body. The set is completed by chrome accents and 13-inch lightweight alloy wheels, giving the car a look that is both sporty and elegant.
TECHNICAL
The original A+ engine has benefited from an in-depth tuning aimed at improving performance and driving pleasure. According to contemporary documentation, power reaches around 100 horsepower. The engine features an optimized intake and a big bore sport exhaust. The cooling system has been upgraded and the transmission reinforced. The chassis has also been modified with adjustable dampers and an upgraded braking system, offering notably more dynamic handling while preserving the authentic Mini character.
INTERIOR
The cockpit has been fully customized and features full red leather upholstery with green contrast stitching. The dashboard is panelled and supplied with wood inserts, while a Moto-Lita steering wheel enhances the sporty look. Numerous polished aluminum elements complete the ensemble, creating an atmosphere that is at once luxurious and sporty, true to the spirit of tuned Minis.
DOCUMENTS
The Palmerspeed preparation is documented by a contemporary article published in the Italian Elaborare magazine, which constitutes a particularly interesting historical element for enthusiasts and collectors.
PICK-UP
The vehicle can be viewed and collected by appointment. Arrangements for pickup can be discussed with the seller.
OTHER INFORMATION
Thanks to its status as a genuine original Rover Cabriolet, its Palmerspeed documented preparation, and its presence in specialist press, this Mini today represents a rare opportunity for a collector or a Mini classic enthusiast. It combines authenticity, limited production, artisanal preparation, and a particularly sought-after aesthetic configuration, all with relatively moderate mileage.

Disclaimer
Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
