Antique Waltham Pocket Watch – Silver Case – Key Wind – 19th Century
Beautiful antique pocket watch manufactured by The American Waltham Watch Co., Waltham, Mass. U.S.A., one of the most renowned American watchmakers of the 19th century.
The watch features a classic white enamel dial with Roman numerals and a sub-seconds dial at 6 o’clock. The elegant gold-tone hands and clean dial design give the watch a timeless and refined appearance.
Inside is a finely crafted mechanical movement signed “The American Waltham Watch Co.” with serial number 5048811. The movement is fitted with a Safety Pinion, an innovation developed to protect the movement if the mainspring breaks.
The watch is housed in a solid silver case, confirmed by multiple hallmarks inside the back cover. The case shows normal signs of age and use consistent with a late 19th-century timepiece.
The lot also includes a period pocket watch key, used to wind and set the watch.
