Description from the seller

Old heraldic wax seal with a flowered shield – turned wooden handle – late 18th century

Ancient episcopal wax seal mounted on an elegant turned wooden handle, dating from the end of the 18th century.

The metal matrix, inlaid at the end, is engraved with a heraldic-inspired coat of arms: a central shield adorned with a trilobed floral motif reminiscent of a stylized fleur-de-lis, framed by decorative scrollwork and topped with a heraldic ornament.

Traces of red wax remain in the recesses of the engraving, bearing witness to its original use.

The top of the handle is enhanced by a metal appliqué in the shape of a fleur-de-lis, a visual cue coherent with the seal’s composition and reinforcing its decorative and symbolic character.

Beautiful antique object combining utility and aesthetics, typical of personal writing accessories of the period. Ideal for collection, cabinet of curiosities, or decoration of an antique desk.

Dimensions: height 10.5 cm – base (seal) 2.3 cm x 1.9 cm

Good overall condition with normal age-related wear, no major alterations.

Photos are an integral part of the object description and complement its presentation. Please examine them carefully before any purchase.

The item will be carefully packaged and shipped with tracking number to ensure fast and secure delivery.

Happy bidding
