Description from the seller
Luxor Carburetor Bicycle Lantern – Original Vintage Part
Authentic antique bicycle lantern from the Luxor brand, a beautiful example of classic lighting used on bicycles in the early to mid-20th century. These lanterns operated via a carburetor system, a technology very common before electric lighting became popular on bicycles.
Manufactured in sturdy metal with a glass front lens, this piece shows a natural patina acquired over decades, evidencing its authenticity and history. The large front reflector was designed to amplify the light produced by the carburetor reaction, providing efficient illumination for the era.
The lantern also features the original bracket for mounting on the bicycle handlebars, in addition to the characteristic reservoirs of the carburetor system, which mixed water and carbide to produce acetylene gas and generate light.
Today, pieces like this are highly prized by collectors of antique bicycles, cycling memorabilia, and vintage industrial decor.
