I hope the portrait captures some of the dark cinematic atmosphere of his sounds. It is one of my treasured portraits. Anyone with even a passing interest in electronic music will recognise Numan as one of the godfathers of 1980s synthpop scoring an early number 1 on the British pop charts as early as 1979 with "Are Friends Electric". This was even earlier than Depeche or Human League or any of the other New Wave bands from England. His early work has been an inspiration for people like Nine Inch Nails and many others.
