Description from the seller
The Philips AF-777 (often called Philips 777 Direct Control) is a vintage turntable renowned for its electronic regulation system, produced in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
Apart from a few signs of wear on the corners where the dust cover rests, which shows scratches, the player works very well and there are no issues.
Technical Features
The turntable is distinguished by:
* Drive system: Contrary to what its name "Direct Control" might suggest, it is a belt-driven drive regulated by a servo on the platter axle for a constant speed.
* Speeds: 33⅓ and 45 rpm with a pitch adjustment of ±3% and a LED indication bar.
* Power supply: 110 V, 60 Hz; 220-240 V 50/60 Hz
* Tonearm: A tubular aluminum tonearm with a molded aluminum headshell.
* Original cartridge: equipped with a Philips GP 400 II cartridge (moving magnet) with a recommended tracking force of 1.5 to 3.0 g.
* Dimensions (L x H x W):
* Closed lid: 420 x 141 x 348 mm
* Open dust cover: 420 x 335 x 385 mm
* Weight: 5.8 kg.
Strengths and Expert Opinions
* Speed accuracy: The "Direct Control" system offers speed stability comparable to direct-drive while retaining the vibration-reducing advantages of belt-driven designs.
* Suspension: It features a spring-suspended chassis to absorb shocks and external vibrations.
Setting the Philips AF-777’s tonearm is a crucial step to preserve your records and optimize sound quality. This turntable has a practical feature: a built-in cartridge weight gauge (the small graduated slider to the right of the tonearm rest).
I will precisely guide the buyer on the steps to properly set the tonearm.
