De oogst, a 1960 oil on panel by Crans, Belgium, in post-war Flemish Expressionism, signed lower right and sold with a frame.
Description from the seller
Albert Crans (1919–1973)
Oil on panel (or canvas) – signed in the bottom right
This expressive work depicts a typical Flemish rural scene with figures, a horse and cart, executed in warm earth tones such as ocher, yellow and red. The vigorous, loose brushwork and the sober, simplified forms are characteristic of Albert Crans’ style and place this work squarely within post-war Flemish expressionism, with affinities to the Latem School.
The composition radiates both movement and stillness and testifies to Crans’ strong involvement with daily life and human labor. This painting is a representative and authentic example of his mature oeuvre from the 1950s–1960s.
The work is signed and offered in a suitable, decorative frame, making it immediately ready for presentation.
An attractive collector’s item for lovers of Belgian art and Flemish expressionism.
