Alexandre Petrus (1988) - PEGASE ET BELLEROPHON

Title : Pegase & Bellerophon Artist : Alexandre Petrus Technique : Hand-cut stencil, spray paint and acrylic Support : Cotton canvas on wooden stretcher Dimension : 61 x 46 x 2 cm Year of creation : 2026 Signature : Hand-signed, AP monogram on the front Authenticity : Certificate of authenticity included Condition : Excellent condition ABOUT THE ARTWORK “Pegase & Bellerophon” is inspired by one of the great legends of Greek mythology. The scene depicts Bellerophon riding Pegasus, the legendary winged horse born from the blood of Medusa. In mythology, Pegasus represents freedom, inspiration and divine power, while Bellerophon symbolizes human ambition and the desire to transcend limits. In this composition, the rearing Pegasus expresses movement, strength and elevation. The sculpture-like posture evokes classical statues while the stencil treatment transforms it into a contemporary urban artwork. The background, composed of layered blue, purple and mineral tones, was created instinctively to evoke sky, clouds and mythological atmosphere. The textured surface contrasts with the sharp lines of the stencil, highlighting the tension between chaos and control. The image was created using my double-layer stencil technique. Each element was digitally designed and meticulously hand-cut before being applied with spray paint and acrylic. This process allows the graphic structure to remain precise while the background remains expressive and alive. The result bridges ancient mythology and modern street art, transforming a classical symbol into a contemporary visual language. This is a unique, original artwork. Even if the stencil may reappear in future works, each background remains entirely one of a kind. ABOUT THE ARTIST Alexandre Petrus is a French stencil artist blending street art aesthetics, digital design and traditional craftsmanship. His stencils are digitally created and then carefully hand-cut before being applied with spray paint. His artistic process is built around the balance between precision and spontaneity. The stencil represents structure and mastery, while the background is created instinctively, allowing textures and movement to emerge. He describes this philosophy as “originality in repetition.” Alexandre has created murals across France and performs live painting for weddings and corporate events, bringing urban art energy into diverse environments. All artworks are original pieces — no prints, no editions. SHIPPING The artwork will be carefully packaged with professional materials to ensure optimal protection. Tracked and insured shipping.
