een prachtig handgemaakt slingerglas uit de 17e of 18e eeuw, een schitterend voorbeeld van vakmanschap uit een vervlogen tijdperk. Dit glas is niet zomaar een drinkgerei, maar een klein kunstwerk waarin eeuwenoude ambachtelijke technieken zichtbaar zijn.

Het decoratieve slingermotief is volledig met de hand aangebracht: gesmolten glas werd in sierlijke slierten over het hoofdglas gedraaid, waardoor elk exemplaar een uniek patroon kreeg. Geen twee glazen zijn hetzelfde – de lichte variaties in dikte en draaiing maken dit glas tot een exclusief verzamelobject.

In zijn tijd was een slingerglas een statussymbool, vaak gebruikt bij speciale gelegenheden in de rijkere huishoudens. Het combineerde functionaliteit met verfijnde esthetiek en straalt nog steeds diezelfde elegantie uit. Soms werden er subtiele kleuren toegevoegd of werd gewerkt met helder glas, waardoor het licht op een betoverende manier door het motief speelt.

De techniek van slingerglas staat verwant aan Venetiaanse tradities zoals chevron en filigrana, wat laat zien dat kennis en stijl van glasmeesters over Europa heen werden uitgewisseld. Vandaag de dag zijn originele 17e- en 18e-eeuwse slingerglazen zeldzaam en zeer gewild bij verzamelaars, niet alleen vanwege hun schoonheid, maar ook vanwege de historische waarde en het uitzonderlijke handwerk.
