Description from the seller

An antique English "kamergemak" or chamber-pot cabinet is offered, dating from the mid to late 19th century (Victorian period), 1850-1900. It served as a portable toilet for use in the bedroom or living room before indoor plumbing became common.

This piece is made of mahogany and has a retractable step at the bottom. When the lid is closed, the piece appears as a decorative cabinet or a set of library steps. Under the hinged lid there is a wooden seat with a round opening, into which a porcelain chamber pot with a handle is placed.

Clear signs of use, see the photos. Photos are part of the sale.
