Kees Salentijn, La ultima esocado, gouache in abstract style, original edition, created in 1990–2000, 85 × 65 cm, Netherlands, sold with frame, hand-signed, in good condition, sold by Galerie.
Description from the seller
Kees Salentijn is studying at the Rijksakademie for Visual Arts in Amsterdam, department of Free Painting. O.B. Kat is there his most important mentor. Salentijn studies paintings in the Prado in Madrid during his study period and he stays for several months with a Berber family in Morocco.
In the eighties Salentijn travels frequently to Spain. He feels connected in this period with artists of diverse tendencies, who advocate spontaneous unconscious creation more or less and do not primarily pursue aesthetic representation. He combines the lively Cobra imagery with influences from Spanish culture.
He uses gouache to achieve intense color areas and a free, intuitive expression, often combined with collage or other media, making his compositions look rich and energetic.
Dimensions of the work: 56 x 45 cm
Dimensions of the work with frame: 85 x 56 cm
Viewing is, of course, possible. In addition we have our own in-house frame shop, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary. Furthermore we use restorers from the professional association: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you would like to make use of this, of course we would be happy to hear from you.
