Aad de Haas, Maastricht, a hand-signed limited edition linocut from 1981 by the Dutch artist, in good condition, framed at 51 × 41 cm (frame included), origin Netherlands, sold by Galerie.
Description from the seller
Aad de Haas (1920–1972) was a Dutch expressionist artist who mainly worked in Limburg. His oeuvre is characterized by strong lines, bold black-and-white contrasts, and a strong social involvement. He depicted the lives of miners, farmers and religious themes in a striking, sometimes confrontational manner. His war experiences and critical view of the church and society gave his work extra depth and emotional charge.
In his linocuts 'Maastricht', De Haas’s style becomes clear. With sharp cuts and powerful contours, he captures the character of the city in a simplified, expressive visual language. The strong play of light and dark gives the work dynamism and drama, while the architecture and atmosphere of Maastricht remain recognizable.
On the back of the frame there is an envelope with documentation and articles concerning the artist.
Dimensions: 34 x 29 cm
Dimensions with frame: 51 x 41 cm
Viewing is, of course, possible. In addition, we have our own in-house framers, who are celebrating their 85th anniversary year. Furthermore we make use of restorers from the professional organization: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you would like to make use of this, we would of course be happy to hear from you.
