William Weege (1935–2023) was an American artist and educator, known for an experimental practice that blends printmaking, textiles, and applied arts.
Active since the 1960s, he developed an interdisciplinary language, working with fibers, synthetic materials, and innovative printing techniques, making a significant contribution to the birth and diffusion of fiber art in the United States.
He taught for many years at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, influencing generations of artists with an open approach to the contamination between art, design, and craft. His research stands out for its attention to processes and materials, as well as for an experimental and unconventional aesthetic.
