Artist biography: painter Nguyen Robert, born 1958.
Born in 1958 in Bên Tre, an authentic village nestled in the heart of the Mekong Delta, Nguyen Robert is a Franco-Vietnamese artist whose work is distinguished by a unique fusion of Asian traditions and Western artistic influences. From a young age, he has been fascinated by the rural architecture of his surroundings, the lines of traditional houses, the volumes of floating markets, and the shadows cast by water palms—elements that would form the basis of his visual language.

Having always lived in his native region, Nguyen Robert over decades developed a deeply contemporary, modern, and decidedly architectural style. His paintings explore structures, lines, urban rhythms, and geometric abstraction, while maintaining a poetic sensibility intrinsic to Vietnamese culture.

His dual Franco-Vietnamese heritage enriches his approach: he borrows from the West the rigor of modern compositions and the boldness of contrasts, while his Vietnamese soul injects softness, spirituality, and fluidity into his works. The result is a pictorial universe where modernity meets timelessness, where geometry engages in dialogue with light, creating works of great visual impact.

Renowned for his ability to transform everyday life into abstract landscapes, Nguyen Robert is now regarded as one of the distinctive voices of contemporary art in the Mekong Delta. He continues his work in his Bên Tre studio, surrounded by the landscapes that shaped his identity, and continues to exhibit in several galleries in Asia and Europe, captivating collectors and art lovers seeking deeply modern, structured, and vibrant works.
