AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

First Edition (ante 1657): Published in Rome by François Collignon.
Copperplate engraving of the 17th century by Carlo Cesio (1622–1682). The work reproduces one of the famous frescoes painted by Annibale Carracci between 1597 and 1600 in the Gallery of the Palazzo Farnese in Rome
Subject: It depicts Hercules and Iole (sometimes also identified as Onfale). The scene shows an ironic role reversal: Hercules, the hero of strength, sits on a rock while playing a tambourine, while Iole wears the skin of the Nemean lion and holds his club. In the upper left you can see a small Amorino.
Restored and trimmed along the edges, the print is sharp and well preserved, attached to a card backing on the side for better conservation.
