Kosta Angeli Radovani, woodcut, etching, hand signed, limited edition print from Germany (1970–1980), 38 × 50 cm.
Description from the seller
The Croatian artist Kosta Angeli Radovani (1916–2002) is better known as a sculptor than as a graphic artist. The work presented here is a rarity in his oeuvre.
Founder of the Academy of Applied Arts in Zagreb in 1950, a distinguished professor of sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo until 1987, and a member of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts until his death in 2002, Radovani's work explores, with evident bitterness, the beauty that emanates from the violent tension between human bodies. His images suggest contradiction by alluding to drama in compositions of sustained balance. This piece is a sample of the work reflected in many of his sculptures, most of which are displayed in public spaces in memory of the victims of an unwanted war.
Woodcut size: 49.5 x 38 cm / Original frame: 52 x 41 cm
Handsigned, numbered, and dated in pencil by the artist.
200 copies published.
We have not removed it from its frame, and it appears to be in perfect condition.
We think it's a superlative work.
