Description from the seller

Jeroen Henneman (born 1942) is a versatile artist from Haarlem, active as a painter, draftsman, graphic artist, illustrator, sculptor and creator for theatre and television. Between 1959 and 1961 he studied at the Institute for Arts and Crafts (Instituut voor Kunstnijverheid) in Amsterdam. Among his best-known works is The Scream, the monument for Theo van Gogh from 2006, which was unveiled in 2007. This memorial stands as a symbol of freedom of expression and refers to the silence that Van Gogh was subjected to.

Another striking work is this portrait of Princess Beatrix, then queen. This portrait is executed as a silkscreen print, based on a metal sculpture created by Henneman in 2000. Of the silkscreen, 1000 copies were made. Henneman did not intend to create a snapshot of the queen, but wanted to capture her as a timeless image, formed over a period of ten to fifteen years. In the face, different phases of her life are brought together — from her youth to the years with Prince Claus — resulting in a layered and recognizable portrait.
