Description from the seller
CONEJO Y MATRIOSKAS is a 70x100 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García. In this work, the world of children's play and the decorative object merge into a composition with surprisingly symbolic power. On a green surface, several brightly colored matryoshkas are gathered alongside a white rabbit and a pot with red fruits, forming a scene that appears naïve but is charged with emotional resonances. The painting possesses that charm of small things which, when observed closely, reveal a complete world.
The matryoshkas occupy the narrative center of the piece. Arranged in different sizes and positions, they generate a sense of family, repetition, and continuity. Each one seems to hold not only another figure inside but another story. Their presence introduces ideas of motherhood, inheritance, and memory, while their minimal, almost hieratic faces bring a silent tenderness and a slight ceremonial air. Beside them, the white rabbit bursts in as a contrast of life and spontaneity. Against the vertical rigidity of the dolls, the animal appears horizontal, in contained motion, with a curious attitude that energizes the composition. Its pure whiteness lightens the lower left area and adds a note of innocence that intensifies the playful, domestic character of the scene.
The background is built with simple planes and highly saturated colors: warm oranges, bright greens, and dark blues that delineate space without real depth. This simplification gives the work an almost illustrated story or modern icon quality, where each object gains an essential presence, easily recognizable and at the same time symbolic.
The upper pot with leaves and red fruits acts as an organic finial that visually balances the whole. It introduces verticality and a natural dimension that connects with the rabbit, so that toys, plants, and animals coexist within the same small domestic theater. Everything seems arranged with the free logic of childhood, where objects do not obey categories but emotional affinities.
“Rabbit and Matryoshkas” is a work full of luminous nostalgia. It speaks of the memory of toys, of family as loving repetition, and of the refuge offered by simple images. Beneath its cheerful and colorful appearance, the painting contains a deep sense of tenderness, intimate collection, and a protected world, like a memory room turned into a visual symbol.
