Widely regarded as the standout of the core range, the Glenfarclas 15 Year Old is bottled at a higher strength of 46% ABV, which provides more body and intensity compared to other expressions.
Tasting Notes:
Complex and concentrated. You’ll find heavy notes of sherried fruits, orange marmalade, and butterscotch. There are deeper hints of dried raisins, dark honey, and just a tiny whiff of peat smoke in the background.
Full-bodied and oily. It delivers a perfect balance of malty sweetness and Oloroso sherry influence. Key flavors include Christmas cake, dates, walnuts, and dark chocolate, followed by warm spices like cinnamon and ginger. Long and lingering. It leaves a sweet, spicy glow with notes of brown sugar, dried fruit, and a faint, sophisticated smokiness.
Overall Character: This is a classic "Sherry Monster" but with great balance. The extra alcohol percentage (46%) keeps it from being too syrupy, making it a favorite for those who enjoy a robust, traditional Speyside malt.
