Biography:
Bram van Velde (1895-1981).
Entered in 1907 as an apprentice at the painting and interior decoration firm Schaijk & Kramers, in The Hague; he was encouraged in his art by Eduard H. Kramers and his son Wijnand, collectors and enthusiasts sensitive to his talent. They would regularly be his patrons until around 1934. Bram was discharged from military service as the family breadwinner at the beginning of World War I. He continues his work as a house painter and decorator, and enrolls at the Mauritshuis in The Hague to copy the old masters.
