Description from the seller
Giuseppe Santomaso – "Double Arch" (1978)
This multi-colour etching from 1978 presents a vertical composition of rare expressive power.
The Venetian Master defines an architectural space of the soul, where imposing earth-toned Siena/vinaccia hues tower against a velvet darkness of absolute black. In the center, a vivid cobalt blue aperture cuts through the scene, a beacon of pure color that creates a bold and captivating chromatic contrast.
It is a magistral synthesis of form and tonal suggestion, typical of Santomaso's lyric. The deep, tactile texture, rendered with technical mastery, invites the viewer to a silent dialogue with the surface of the paper. An essential historical piece for any collector of Italian abstraction of the twentieth century.
