1) Châteauneuf-du-Pape Chaupin 2021
The 2021 Chaupin Châteauneuf-du-Pape from Domaine de la Janasse is a refined single-vineyard cuvée, made exclusively from Grenache grapes grown on old vines planted in sandy soils, giving the wine a particularly elegant and airy character.
This 2021 vintage, fresher and more balanced than sunnier years, highlights the grape variety’s finesse and the terroir’s purity, offering a more slender and precise style.
On the palate, the wine displays a brilliant ruby color, slightly less intense than in richer vintages. The nose is subtle and complex, marked by aromas of fresh red fruits such as raspberry and cherry, accompanied by floral notes, sweet spices, and garrigue. On the palate, the attack is supple and delicate, with a silky texture, fine tannins, and a lovely liveliness that brings tension and balance. The overall impression is harmonious, driven by great freshness and remarkable aromatic precision. The finish is elegant and persistent, with spicy and slightly mineral nuances.
Carefully aged in large oak casks and demi-muids, this wine retains all the purity of its fruit and a beautiful structure without excessive power.
It pairs perfectly with fine meats, lamb, roasted poultry, or dishes featuring Mediterranean herbs.
Already approachable in its youth after a brief aeration, it also possesses good aging potential, during which it will gain complexity while retaining

2) Châteauneuf-du-Pape Tradition 2017
Domaine de la Janasse’s 2017 Tradition Châteauneuf-du-Pape red is an iconic wine of the appellation, crafted from a blend dominated by Grenache, complemented by Syrah and Mourvèdre, sourced from diverse terroirs featuring a mix of rounded pebbles and sandy-clay soils.
This sunny, generous vintage has produced a rich, concentrated, and expressive wine, while retaining the estate’s characteristic balance. On the palate, it displays a deep color with intense garnet highlights.
The nose is intense and complex, revealing aromas of ripe black fruits such as blackberry and blackcurrant, accompanied by notes of garrigue, spices, licorice, and a slight smoky touch. On the palate, the attack is full-bodied and warm, with a dense, enveloping texture, supported by present yet well-integrated tannins. The structure is powerful without being heavy, thanks to a freshness that balances the whole. The texture is velvety, offering beautiful aromatic richness and great generosity. The finish is long and persistent, marked by spicy notes, a hint of chocolate, and a touch of jammy fruit.
Aged primarily in large oak casks and tanks, this wine preserves the fruit’s expression while gaining complexity.
It pairs perfectly with grilled red meats, dishes with sauce, roast lamb, game, or aged cheeses.
Already enjoyable to drink after being decanted, it also has good aging potential, allowing it to develop greater complexity and nuance over the years.
