Embodying the refined architectural elegance of the early 1970s, this rectangular Omega Genève presents a masterclass in minimalist design. Moving away from the traditional round cases of the era, this striking timepiece offers a sophisticated profile on the wrist, characterized by its clean lines and an exquisite vertically brushed dial. The Genève line was historically Omega's platform for introducing versatile, high-quality dress watches to a discerning public, and this particular example beautifully showcases the brand's dedication to both aesthetic harmony and mechanical reliability.

Dial and Hands
The dial of this Omega Genève is a visual delight, featuring a striking vertical brushed texture that catches the light beautifully across its champagne surface. Condition is paramount in vintage collecting, and this dial is exceptionally well-preserved, remaining entirely clean and free of visible spotting, moisture marks, or surface degradation. The typography, including the crisp black serif "OMEGA" beneath the applied gold-toned logo, remains perfectly intact, as does the "Genève" script and the "- SWISS MADE -" designation at the bottom. The applied baton hour markers are elegantly faceted, featuring a black central channel flanked by polished gold edges, providing excellent contrast and legibility. The matching black stick hands are in superb condition, completing the minimalist and sophisticated aesthetic of the watch face.

Case and Crystal
The rectangular case features a smooth, sweeping profile with gently sloping lugs that allow the watch to contour comfortably to the wrist. Constructed with a heavy 20-micron gold plating, as denoted on the interior of the caseback, the case exhibits a warm, luxurious tone. The case remains in very good condition, displaying honest, light surface scratches and minor handling wear consistent with careful vintage use, without any deep gouges or significant plating loss on the primary visible surfaces. The original signed Omega crown is present and crisp, featuring the iconic horseshoe logo. The watch is fitted with a domed acrylic (hesalite) crystal, gently curved in profile and sitting proud of the bezel, presenting a clear and unobstructed view of the stunning dial beneath, with only the faintest signs of surface wear. The stainless steel snap-on caseback is horizontally brushed on its exterior and bears the correct factory engravings on the interior, including the reference number 111.0110.

Movement
Powering this elegant timepiece is the Omega Caliber 625, a robust and highly regarded manual-winding movement. A close inspection of the movement reveals a beautifully clean and well-maintained copper-colored finish, characteristic of Omega's high production standards of the era. The movement bridges clearly display the Omega Swiss hallmark, the caliber designation 625, and the serial number 36575507, which dates the production of this watch to circa 1973. Running in vintage operational condition. Maintains the authentic mechanical character of the era. The timegrapher results show a deviation of +40 to +42 s/d.

Strap
The watch is currently paired with a supple black leather strap that complements the black accents on the dial and hands perfectly. The strap is secured with a vintage gold-plated pin buckle that proudly bears the applied Omega logo. The buckle shows some expected plating wear along its outer edges, revealing the base metal beneath, which is entirely consistent with the age and honest use of the timepiece.

Condition
This Omega Genève is presented in excellent vintage condition. The absolute highlight of the watch is its pristine dial, which has survived the decades without the common flaws or aging often seen in watches of this vintage. The gold-plated case retains its structural integrity and elegant lines, showing only normal, attractive signs of careful wear. The movement is remarkably clean and functions as intended, making this a highly collectible and wearable piece.

Dimensions
The case measures 27 mm in width, excluding the signed crown. The rectangular proportions provide a presence on the wrist that wears larger than traditional round watches of similar dimensions, offering a distinguished and classic fit.

Remarks
Finding a rectangular Omega from this era with such an immaculate dial is a notable opportunity for collectors of mid-century dress watches. The combination of the striking vertical brushing, the applied black and gold indices, and the dependable manual-wind movement makes this Genève a versatile addition to any serious collection. It is a watch that transitions effortlessly from formal attire to everyday elegance.

History
The Genève collection was introduced by Omega in the 1950s as a tribute to their workshops in Geneva, Switzerland, where their highest-tier chronometers were regulated. By the 1970s, the Genève line had evolved to encompass nearly 60 percent of Omega's total production, serving as a dynamic testing ground for new case shapes, dial textures, and design languages. The rectangular models from this era represent a fascinating intersection of traditional watchmaking and the bold, geometric design trends of the 1970s, offering a distinct alternative to the ubiquitous round cases that dominated the market.
