Lucebert, pseudonym of Lubertus Jacobus Swaanswijk, presents Nachtmerrie (1967), an aquatint in a limited edition of 158/190, hand-signed, in fair condition, with dimensions 80 x 65 cm, sold with frame by Galerie in the Netherlands.
Description from the seller
Lucebert, pseudonym of Lubertus Jacobus Swaanswijk, was born on 15 September 1924 in Amsterdam and died on 10 May 1994 in Alkmaar. He was a Dutch painter, poet, draftsman, graphic artist and ceramicist, and is considered one of the most important artists of the post-war Dutch avant-garde.
Lucebert was associated with the experimental CoBrA movement and was known for his free, expressive style full of fantasy creatures, bold outlines and vibrant color usage. In addition to his visual work, he gained wide recognition as a poet and as the frontman of the Vijftigers. In both his painting and poetry, spontaneity, imagination and experimentation were central.
