Description from the seller
Screen print by Co Westerik from 1980
Dimensions: 47 x 33 cm
Dimensions with frame: 61 x 57 cm
Hand-signed and in the plate
Provenance: Private collection, Netherlands
Co Westerik became best known for his paintings. His output is small; only three to four paintings per year. In making a painting, Westerik starts from an 'ideeschet' (idea sketch). These ideeschets are small drawings, sometimes only a few centimeters long and wide, of sudden notions, situations that could become a painting. When he has chosen a particular ideeschets, he first determines the dimensions of the painting and then precisely transfers the enlarged ideeschets onto canvas or panel. Westerik then creates an imprimatura or underpainting in tempera and paints over it with oil and/or alkyd paint.
Viewing is of course possible. In addition, we have our own in-house framing workshop, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary. We also work with restorers from the professional association: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you would like to make use of these services, please let us know.
