Meta Plückebaum (1876-1945) - Kat / poes

This is an original! (rare) etching by the famous German female artist Meta Plückebaum (1876 Dortmund - 1945 Düsseldorf). She painted and etched at the end of the 19th and the first half of the 20th century in Düsseldorf and, besides portraits of people, made many animal portraits, especially of cats. Her work is known all over the world. Her etchings with cats and dogs are highly valued at international auctions.

From Meta Plückebaum, maiden name Weber, little is unfortunately known about her further. She worked together with her husband Carl Plückebaum, also a well-known artist. In the last photo you see the only known photograph of her (with her cats) from this period. (This photo is not included; it is privately owned)

In this rare etching we see a cat portrait. Bottom right fully signed Meta Plückebaum.

Dimensions: etching without frame 18.5 cm x 13 cm
Framed dimensions 31.5 cm x 25.5 cm

Condition: in good condition, light brown discoloration of the paper. The etching will of course be securely packaged for shipment.

P.S.: After her death her etching plates were used again for some time. These etchings are signed with Radierung von (rd.v.) Meta Plückebaum. The original signature of her is not present on these later etchings.
