Mark Brusse (born 1937) is a Dutch sculptor, painter and graphic artist, known for his poetic and versatile artistic practice. Born in Alkmaar and educated at the Academy of Art in Arnhem, he settled in Paris in the early 1960s, where he was part of the international avant-garde world around Nouveau Réalisme and Fluxus. His work comprises assemblages, sculptures, paintings and ceramics, often made from found materials and inspired by his many travels through Europe and Asia. Brusse’s art is characterized by playful simplicity, symbolic forms and a sense of stillness, in which influences from different cultures come together.
