Description from the seller
This is a work by the Italian artist Ugo Nespolo (born August 29, 1941 in Mosso, Biella). The piece features several elements from Palermo and stands out for its use of vibrant, bright colors. Glitter has been applied to various parts of the image, giving the work extra depth and a playful character.
Ugo Nespolo is an Italian artist, painter, sculptor, filmmaker and writer. He lives and works in Turin. His artistic career began in the 1960s. During this period, he drew inspiration from the emerging Pop Art, as well as from conceptual art, Arte Povera and Fluxus. During a trip to the United States in 1967 he gained close familiarity with these innovative art movements. In the following decades he also regularly spent extended periods in America, especially during the eighties. Irony and a playful form of provocation became important characteristics of his oeuvre and are still recognizable in his work.
