In “Red Dream,” a young woman with her hair up, wrapped in a red nightgown, is seated nude in a contemplative, self-contained pose against an abstract blue-and-gold background. The body is painted with a quasi-hyperrealistic technique, attentive to nuances of incarnation and muscular tension, while the fluid and material background introduces a dreamlike dimension, as if the silhouette emerges from a memory or a luminous dream.
The blue background is traversed by drips and areas of gold enamel that catch the light, creating reflections that change with the viewpoint. The contrast between the vulnerability of the pose, the intensity of red, and the preciousness of gold generates a subtle tension between intimacy and icon: the model becomes a suspended presence, fragile and at the same time monumental, a fragment of a dream fixed on the canvas.

Francesco Dezio (Altamura, 1970) is an Italian visual artist active as a painter and illustrator since 2004. His research blends hyperreal figuration, dreamy imagery, and anthropological references, with particular attention to the body, identity, and liminal landscapes. Trained in Visual Design with Riccardo Falcinelli (art director at Einaudi, Laterza, Minimum Fax), he has produced covers for major national publishers such as Feltrinelli and Einaudi, including titles that were finalists for the Premio Strega. He lives and works in Altamura, Puglia.
