Biography: André Jacquemin, born in Épinal on September 3, 1904 and died in Paris on September 18, 1992, is a French painter and etcher.
André Jacquemin studied under Charles Albert Waltner (1846-1925) and Jean-Paul Laurens at the École des beaux-arts de Paris.
In 1928, he founded, with eleven other printmakers (including Yves Alix, Amédée de La Patellière and Robert Lotiron), the Société de la jeune gravure contemporaine and obtained, in 1936, the Grand National Prize for the Arts, awarded for the first time to a printmaker.
In 1937, he represented French engraving at the Venice Biennale.
In 1953, he became curator of the Musée de l'image and the Musée départemental des Vosges in Épinal.
He is responsible for nearly a thousand prints and numerous book illustrations.
His works are in several French and foreign museums.
