Description from the seller

This glass sculpture depicts a fish, gracefully captured in a moment of movement. The sculpture harmoniously combines transparency with vibrant colors. The body of the fish shows a flowing transition from deep blue-green to a soft pink hue, thereby powerfully displaying the dynamics and beauty of underwater life. The fins and tail are clear and elegantly formed, with fine ribs that playfully break the incoming light, creating a constantly shifting display of color. Through the transparency of the glass, the fish appears almost weightless, as if it is gliding through the water.

The artwork is created by Alfredo Barbini, one of the foremost glass artists of Murano in the twentieth century. Barbini was born in 1912 on the islands of Murano, located in the Venetian Lagoon in Italy. He grew up in a family with a rich tradition in the glass industry; both his parents and earlier generations were active as glassblowers and beadmakers. Thanks to this background, Barbini developed exceptional craftsmanship at a young age. His work is valued worldwide for the combination of technical perfection, artistic expression, and innovative application of color and form. This sculpture is a beautiful example of that, reflecting the master tradition for which Murano glassmaking has become famous.

Dimensions: 42 x 40 x 11 cm
