This masterful work occupied Chagall for two long years. The seventy-year-old artist became passionate about this prestigious commission and left his mark in the work forever with his self-portrait at the palette beside the Eiffel Tower (see photo).

This work was issued for the portfolio celebrating the realization and inauguration of the ceiling of the Paris Opera by Marc Chagall in 1964. It is annotated Première maquette en couleurs non retenue.

Very good condition - usual central fold (as issued) with the image on the back (as issued - see photo)

Cette oeuvre magistrale a occupé Chagall pendant deux longues années. L'artiste septuagénaire s'est passionné pour cette commande prestigieuse et s'est inscrit à jamais dans l'ouvrage avec son autoportrait à la palette à côte de la tour Eiffel (voir photo).

Cette oeuvre a été éditée pour le portfolio célébrant la réalisation et l'inauguration du plafond de l'Opéra de Paris par Marc Chagall en 1964. Elle est annotée Première maquette en couleurs non retenue.
