Carlo Cesio (XVII) - Diana ed Endimione

This magnificent print depicts the myth of Diana and Endymion: the goddess of the hunt, enamored with the beauty of the young shepherd Endymion, obtains from Jupiter that he sink into an eternal sleep so that she can behold him and kiss him every night without him waking. In the center, Diana tenderly embraces Endymion asleep. On the left, cupids observe the scene in silence, while in the bottom right a faithful dog is visible, also at rest.
