Giovanni Lanfranco (XVII) - La caduta di Gerico

The original etching, part of the famous series dedicated to Raphael's Bible (titled Historia del Testamento Vecchio), made around 1607. The work reproduces the renowned frescoes of the Vatican Loggias executed by Raphael and his workshop. The scene, identified by the inscription at the bottom 'Iosua .6.', depicts the epic moment of the fall of Jericho's walls: the Israelites advance bearing the Ark of the Covenant while the city walls collapse in the background.
