Pjeroo Roobjee (born 1945, Ghent) is a Belgian artist, writer and performer known for his idiosyncratic, often absurdist visual language and literary universe. He has become a cult figure within the Flemish art world, standing out for a combination of painting, drawing, theater, poetry and prose.

Roobjee studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent and developed a fully independent style at an early stage. His paintings often feature uncanny figures, hybrid beings and theatrical scenes that balance between humor and threat. The world he evokes is grotesque, baroque and lightly surreal, influenced by both the Flemish primitives and modern expressionist and Dadaist tendencies. His work is figurative but distorted and laden with symbolism.

In addition to his visual work, Roobjee is also a prolific writer. He authored novels, essays and plays in which the same absurd logicality and linguistic playfulness recur as in his paintings. His language is rich, archaic and ironic, often sprinkled with puns and social critique.
