Description from the seller
Leon Adriaans (1944-2004) is for many people the typically Brabant artist/farmer who, from a self-chosen isolation, away from the established art world, painted feed sacks, tarpaulins and rough boards.
Adriaans is on the one hand completely Brabant in his themes of rural life, his work horses and his pigeons. On the other hand this is only the starting point for the artist for whom painting was a matter of life and death. Existential and universal subjects were what truly mattered to him: the lifeblood itself, as he wrote, the unexplored realms of the soul, the search for insight. This quest manifested itself in colorful, direct paintings with maximum expressiveness about euphoria, consolation and forgiveness, about the creative fire and the painter's soul.
Viewing of the lot is always possible. All contact information can be found on our own website. Art Dumay has an in-house framing workshop with almost 100 years of experience. If interested, please contact us and we will be happy to assist you.
