Description from the seller
Clemens Briels – Dish Dog
Dish Dog is a colorful and playful work of art by Clemens Briels. The dog, built from dish-like shapes, combines humor with imagination. With its bright colors and clear lines Briels shows how everyday objects can transform into a fantastical and striking artwork.
Behind Clemens Briels's artworks lies always a story, his works are small anecdotes from a counter-society. Clemens Briels developed his own style, ANTIPODISME: he imagines the opposite of the stereotype, the learned. The viewer is confronted with another, imaginative view of everyday things and is often surprised.
Briels imagines his experiences that he has gained in the Orient, the Caribbean and North and South America. In addition traditional Central and South American music is an almost inexhaustible source of inspiration. The Cuban son, mambo, merengue and the souk, the music tones tipped with a light erotic sauce, compel him to create intriguing paintings.
Clemens Briels's artworks are never bound to time and reflect universal themes, cosmopolitan imaginations of daily life. Clemens Briels translates his experiences in his own way, in his own unique fantasy world. Color is the instrument, the story is his message. The artist stimulates the viewer's imagination by showing other images than we are supposed to see. Because our stereotypes are learned and not imaginative interpretations of surrounding things and events, the viewer is confronted with surprises.
