Description from the seller

This is a colorized engraving after 'Olympia' by Édouard Manet, executed by Jacques Villon in 1926.
Etching and color aquatint. It is a beautiful reinterpretation of Manet's famous painting created in 1893. This engraving is part of a major series of art editions produced by Jacques Villon (born Gaston Duchamp, brother of the famous Marcel Duchamp) for Galerie Bernheim-Jeune in Paris in the 1920s.

Two inscriptions at the bottom of the work: on the right "Jacques Villon Sc." On the left "Ed. Manet, Pinxt" indicating that the engraving was made after an original painting by Manet.

Plus a facsimile signature of Manet and the date 1863.

Inscription 'L’Olympa' at the center of the lower margin.

This is a historical proof listed by the Chalcography of the Louvre Museum and originating from the copper plate engraved in 1926.

Dimensions of the work excluding framing: 58 × 40 cm.

Beautiful period gold frame.

Work under glass.
