Description from the seller
Eleonora Stol (1946–2022) was a Dutch artist best known for her expressive, colorful and emotionally charged paintings and graphic works. She was born in Leiden and studied at the Vrije Academie in The Hague, and then worked for a long time from Amsterdam. Her artist name was also often “La Roja,” referring to her preference for vibrant colors, with red as a recurring theme in her life and work.
Stol’s work is characterized by lively color use, dynamic forms and an intuitive painting style in which passion, love, dance and dream imagery play a major role. She often used mixed techniques, including acrylic, oil paint and pencil, giving her works a rich, textural appearance that directly engages emotion. Her art is described as vibrant, energetic and full of movement, almost as if the canvases “breathe.”
The work is on display in our gallery. Furthermore, Art Dumay operates a framing shop (this year their 85th anniversary) and a restoration studio. So if you would like to make use of these services, we would of course be happy to hear from you.
