Nico Vrielink, Muze., limited edition 82/290, silkscreen, 69 × 49 cm, portrait of Jeane in profile, hand-signed in pencil with a red seal, Netherlands, 1990–2000, in fair condition.
Description from the seller
A large silkscreen print by the Dutch artist Nico Vrielink (b. 1958), depicting his signature subject: his muse and wife Jeane, portrayed in profile with dark hair, red lips and a patterned kimono-style garment against a bamboo-blind background. Bold grey crayon-like strokes overlay the composition, giving the print the immediacy of a sketch.
The work is hand-signed in pencil at the lower left and numbered 82/290. Vrielink's red seal mark, in the manner of a Chinese artist's chop, is printed in the lower left corner of the image. The colour registration is crisp, with vivid contrasts of red, teal and olive green.
Vrielink built his career around a single subject — Jeane, whom he met in Singapore — and has painted and printed her in countless variations, blending Western expressionist handling with East Asian motifs.
Condition: Good
The sheet is in good condition with strong, fresh colours. Unframed; the paper shows a light natural curl from storage.
Measurements: Sheet: 69 x 49 cm. Unframed.
.
