AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Beautiful engraving from the series "The Exercise of Arms", made from original drawings by the same De Gheyn in his workshop, perhaps by Robert de Baudous, and published in 1607 by the same workshop.
Exemplar with wide margins, on laid paper, in very good condition, only slight reddening and a very small hole on the right restored (see photo).
Unsigned, bottom right numbered "10" of the series of 117, published in The Hague in 1607, after Count Jan van Nassau Siegen had commissioned De Gheyn in 1597 to design drawings for a manual on the exercise of arms for infantry and cavalry. This was followed by several editions in various languages (Dutch, French, German, English, Danish).
Depicted is a soldier, full-length, showing the third movement to bring the pike to the shoulder and hold it horizontally
New Hollstein (Dutch & Flemish), 435.II.
