Achille Pace - Toledo (Ohio) was very beautiful

Achille Pace (1923–2024) was one of the major figures of contemporary Italian art and one of the founders of the Gruppo Uno, a movement that contributed to the renewal of the Italian artistic language in the postwar period. His works are present in important public and private collections and testify to a coherent research focused on the sign, space, and the dialogue between art and writing.

The lot presents the art folder "Toledo Ohio," a prestigious edition that brings together four original etchings by Achille Pace accompanied by a poetic text by Piero Bigongiari, among the most authoritative figures of twentieth-century Italian poetry.

The offered specimen is no. 85/100, belonging to a limited and numbered edition. The engravings are made on Fabriano rosaspina art paper with high-quality intaglio printing and represent a significant example of the collaboration between artists and poets that characterized Italian art publishing in the second half of the twentieth century.

The folder comes from the private collection of Francesco Bongiovanni, built over time thanks to the activity of master torcoliere Luciano Bongiovanni, who collaborated with numerous artists and publishing houses specialized in original art graphics.

The works and the folder are in good conservation condition, with slight and natural signs of time compatible with the edition’s age, without defects that would compromise the aesthetic quality or collectible value.
