Description from the seller
Screenprint on paper, “Untitled,” Leopoldo del Brío Trimiño, contemporary art, 1976, Spain
Excellent screenprint on paper by Leopoldo del Brío (Valladolid, 1945). The pink background contrasts with the central abstract figure, yellow and green, which resembles a plant structure, a riverbed, a root, or a growing biological form, though it avoids any explicit figurative reference. This visual ambiguity invites the viewer to a free interpretation.
The contrast between the pink background and the intense greens creates a strong optical vibration, reinforced by the technical cleanliness of the silkscreen and the precision of the chromatic overlays. The composition concentrates visual weight in the upper third, while the downward extension introduces dynamism and spatial balance.
This screenprint reflects Leopoldo del Brío’s interest in the relationships between color, form, and space. Del Brío developed intense artistic activity during the second half of the 20th century, exhibiting mainly in Valladolid and Madrid. His production encompassed sculpture, painting, graphic work and set design, in addition to drawings, portraits, landscapes and small altarpieces. He was also a diligent color researcher, a trait that is evident in this work.
