REFERENCE: Catalogue raisonné Marc Chagall et Ambroise Vollard #24

INFORMATION: Marc Chagall began engraving the copper plates illustrating 'Dead Souls' by Nikolai Gogol starting in 1923. After painstaking work, the edition was completed in 1948 and published by Tériade.
