The Spanish artist Albert Ráfols Casamada (Barcelona 1923, 2009), a recognized Spanish poet and painter. In 1980 he was awarded the National Prize of Plastic Arts granted by the Ministry of Culture of Spain, and in 2003 with the National Prize of Visual Arts of Catalonia granted by the Generalitat; in 1983 he was distinguished with the Creu de Sant Jordi, and in 1991 with the Legion of Honor from the Government of France. He is an honorary member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando.
