About
The signed exhibition poster with the famous motif "The painter" from 1994 was produced for the exhibition "Models" at the Salzburg Art Association, which took place from October 12 to November 26, 1995, and is among the early museum presentations of Marlene Dumas in the German-speaking world. The exhibition brought together central works from her internationally celebrated body of work in the 1990s and was subsequently shown at Portikus in Frankfurt as well as at the Neue Gesellschaft für Bildende Kunst in Berlin. Original signed posters from this significant creative period are today sought-after collectibles and document the international breakthrough of one of the most influential painters of contemporary art.

Biography
Marlene Dumas (born 1953) ranks among the most important contemporary female painters. The South Africa-born artist, who has lived in Amsterdam since the 1970s, gained international recognition especially in the 1990s with her expressive paintings, in which she combines portraits, depictions of the body, and emotional states in a distinctive visual language. Characteristic are her glazing brushstrokes, the restrained palette, and motifs based on photographs, through which Dumas questions identity, gender, intimacy, and human vulnerability. Works from the 1990s are today considered key positions of contemporary figurative painting and are represented worldwide in major museums and private collections.
