"Premiere Seconde Centurie de Planches Enluminees et Non Enluminees" presents a fascinating herpetological study of lizards showcasing two large reptiles decorated with distinct blue markings alongside smaller specimens and clusters of eggs on a textured grassy terrain. This detailed engraving comes from a monumental multi-decade scientific work published in Paris between 1775 and 1781 to systematically document global wildlife varieties.
Jacques de Favanne was an accomplished French painter and illustrator widely known for his highly detailed natural history compositions and precise scientific plate engravings.
