Description from the seller

Each work is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.

Extraordinary lot consisting of 2 original etchings by the celebrated Lombard master Federica Galli. The works attest to the artist's visceral love for the Padanian landscape, rural architecture, and natural detail.

First engraving (Round Format): A refined circular view of a complex of farmhouses and cypress trees, characterized by meticulous hatching that captures the vibration of light on the roofs and the vegetation.

Second engraving (Vertical Format - P.A.): An intimate, focused composition centered on a typical rustic stone fountain/lavoir opposite the wall of a farmstead, set above the intertwined branches of a winter tree.

Both engravings are printed on heavy art paper with an untrimmed edge ("barbato"), signed in pencil in the artist’s own hand and enriched with the publisher's dry stamp of guarantee. The second work is a valued Author's Proof (A.P.). Federica Galli (Cremona 1932 – Milan 2009) is regarded as one of the greatest Italian etchers of the 20th century. Trained at the Brera Academy, she devoted almost her entire life almost exclusively to the art of etching, producing over 800 matrices. Her works portray with lyricism views of Milan, Padanian farmhouses, monumental trees, and natural landscapes. She was the only living artist to have exhibited at the Museo Correr in Venice, and her engravings are held in the graphic collections of Castello Sforzesco, the National Library of Paris, and the British Museum in London.
